Dr. Banana’s Word Search

Friday, June 29th, 2007

Dr. Banana’s Word Search is a word search game, with 30 puzzles of different sizes and difficulty levels.

Making His List, Checking It Twice

Dr. Banana starts up with a list of puzzles. The list includes the puzzle name, the difficulty level (Easy/Med/Hard), the puzzle size (S, M, L, XL), and how much progress you’ve made on the puzzle.

The difficulty level determines how much information is shown in the puzzle’s Word List:

  • Hard: only the first letter of each word is shown.
  • Med: each word’s first letter, punctuation, and length are shown.
  • Easy: every letter for every word is shown.

You can bring up a puzzle’s word list at any time using “Menu-L” or the space bar. Either will toggle the word list on and off.

The difficulty level can be decreased at the puzzle’s “Puzzle Info” screen. You can change the difficulty at any time. So if you’d like a little more of a challenge, try starting each puzzle on Hard!

FAQ

Answers:

Q: How is a puzzle’s size determined?

A: A puzzle is classified as Small, Medium, Large, or Extra Large (S, M, L, XL) based on the number of letter it contains. A small puzzle is less than one screen wide, a medium puzzle is about one screen wide, and a large puzzle is notably wide than one screen. Extra large is just, well, huge.
Give or take. It’s mainly meant as an approximation, so that you have an idea of what you’re getting in to when you’re deciding which puzzle to play.
